Phillip Pitts
Phillip Pitts started his career at the early age of eight years old under the direction of his father, Mark Pitts. By the time he was twelve, Phillip had already developed the ear for sound engineering and was able to independently mix audio at a small bluegrass festival in northern Illinois. After having several successful years, Phillip decided to venture out on his own, creating Spectacular Sound and Lighting in February of 2003. At only sixteen, Phillip became one of the youngest CEOs in the business.
Phillip is now a managing member of Spectacular Productions, LLC. He manages the daily operations of the company. During his time with the company, Phillip has toured with national artists from the country and bluegrass circuit. He has managed front house and audio for some of the largest events in Central Missouri. See our past events page for more information.
Now, years later, Spectacular has become a leader in central Missouri for event productions.
“I knew at an early age that I had a love for music. I quickly realized however that I would never be an amazing musician, but I did have the ear to be an amazing sound guy for the bands!” says Phillip. Once I really got into the business, I discovered a passion for the technical behind the scenes stuff to making a show happen.”
Matt Sutcliffe
Matt is a managing member of Spectacular Productions and handles production management and all of the lighting design and implementation. He also handles our special effects implementation.
Matt Sutcliffe is no stranger to the entertainment world. Matt has had a passion for entertaining people his whole life. In 1985 at the age of 15, Matt bought his first sound system, and began disk jockeying for events and even at a local radio station in Lebanon, Missouri KJEL 103.7. Matt’s passion for entertaining people only grew from there. In the early 1990’s, Matt entered into the commercial fireworks business. After several successful years, Matt ventured out on his own creating Premier Pyrotechnics, Inc. in 1999. With Matt behind the helm, Premier quickly became a leader in the commercial display fireworks industry that has entertained hundreds of thousands of people over the years.
Matt produced several large scale events in the central US. For several years, he was the production manager for the Missouri State Special Olympics, and a show called Enforce 21 at Fort Leonard Wood. Matt designed and produced some of the largest fireworks displays in the nation.
Matt has a passion for the look of the show as well as the logistics of the show.
“All my life, my passion has been to entertain people. Whether its music or event productions, fireworks, or telling jokes,” Matt says. “I love to be the guy that clients call to help turn a mediocre event into an amazing event that the spectators will remember for a lifetime.”

Spectacular Productions LLC has many part time employees who work regularly on show preparations and general shop maintenance. We work hard to ensure that our gear is updated and in good working order. Spectacular Productions has access to a vast list of professional lighting and audio freelance technicians, which assist us from time to time.
